Portraiture Workshop with Artist Carol Fairlie

  • Palette Club of Midland 907 West Wadley Avenue Midland, TX, 79705 United States (map)

Carol Fairlie, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Art at Sul Ross State University and the West Texas Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America, is coming to the Palette Club for one afternoon only with her fresh insights into creating portraits.

The class will begin with the structure of the eyes, nose, and mouth, and tricks to draw them. From there, you will learn about the relationship of the skull to the head, proportions, and measuring techniques, and then how the head rotates in space and how to draw facial features at different angles. The session will end with a brief color theory demo of the full color wheel and how to create flesh tones.

This is a hands-on class; students will bring their own supplies and be drawing along with the demos.

A supply list is available on our website along with more information about signing up.
