David Mercado "Landscape in Flight"
Austin Texas based artist David Mercado will exhibit this series of birds in "Landscape in Flight" . David works primarily in mixed media on wood and paper. Texas birds are his latest subjects.

Arts Council of Midland Hosts Artist David Mercado
On Thursday, May 16th, from 5:30 to 7 pm, the Arts Council of Midland will present “Landscape in Flight” with a reception at 1506 West Illinois Avenue in Midland Texas, featuring the depth and complexity in the work of Austin, Texas artist David Mercado. The exhibit features twenty-two acrylic and oil pastel paintings. Refreshments will be served. The reception is free and open to the public. Please come as you are!
In the beginning, his imagery focused on the beauty, strength and movement of hummingbirds, a series that gained him national recognition by their popularity. David has progressed into an exciting bird and landscape series.
David works primarily in mixed media on wood and paper. Texas birds have been the focus of his latest works.
David is a self-taught artist with over 25 years of experience. He has exhibited his work in galleries and exhibitions across the country.
David looks forward to a busy spring and summer with upcoming exhibitions throughout Texas.
Exhibitions are a free and open to the public quarterly program presented by the Arts Council of Midland.

Kids Night Out - Parents Night Off!

KNO gives your children ages 4 to 14 a chance to get out of the house, and off their devices to have some fun with other kids. Each KNO will feature painting, games, crafts, and a slime bar. Movie in the Park - Elemental
On Friday, May 17th Centennial Park is partnering with City of Midland, Texas - City Government to host a Movie in the Park. This is a free community event!
Elemental (PG) will show at 8:30 p.m. on May 17th. The run time is 1H 41M.
Movie Summary: The film journeys alongside an unlikely pair, Ember and Wade, in a city where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The fiery young woman and the go-with-the-flow guy are about to discover something elemental: how much they actually have in common.
Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

2nd Annual Space Nation
Join us as we step into the New Space Era! The Petroleum Museum is excited to announce that it will host the 2nd annual Space Nation Day on Sunday, May 19th, starting at 2 PM. Admission is free. The event will feature former NASA astronaut Michael Good and other leaders in space, presenting the first Moon Pioneers Mission by Space Nation in Midland, why we go to space, and how Midland is at the center of it.
Inspire your kids with exciting space activities and challenge yourself with a special space mission challenge for adults and students with a grand prize of a free, all-inclusive VIP ticket for Space Nation’s upcoming Moon Pioneers Missions worth $10,000 and other prizes for all ages. Classes are held weekly. There will be no class on Holidays. The fee for these art Sessions is a monthly rate. You will need to register for each month you would like your child to attend. The monthly fee includes all class dates listed at the time of registration for the month.
Crafting Class - Ages 8-14
These craft classes sessions are to emphasize creative thinking and artistic experimentation. Each month we will work on new craft projects and techniques. We used a wide variety of supplies to create our beautiful projects! These even include items you have in your own household!
Classes are held weekly on Tuesday evenings. There will be no class on Holidays. The fee for these art Sessions is a monthly rate. You will need to register for each month you would like your child to attend. The monthly fee includes all class dates listed at the time of registration for the month.
Hatha Yoga with Margaret Osborn
Hatha yoga focuses on posture and breathing techniques. Margaret specializes in healing the mind and body with breathwork, movement, and meditation. She has 8 years of experience teaching yoga and the last 4 years have been working with veterans and military families. Margaret is also certified in a range of wellness practices including; -200 RYT yoga certification from the Austin School of Yoga, Mini Yogis children’s yoga certification, and Trauma informed Yoga Therapy Level 2 from Sundhara Yoga.

Building Bots
Building Bots classes enable students in kindergarten through 6th grade to develop skills in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving while they complete engineering challenges, robotic design, and inventive projects. We utilize a variety of robotics equipment including LEGO WeDo 2.0s, LEGO Mindstorm EV3s, LEGO SPIKE (prime and essential), Osmos, Spheros, and Ozobots as well as implementing different themes each month. Pre-registration is required.

Pre-K Art Camp - Messy Masterpieces
The same amazing art camp that you are used to at The Studio.
New this year, just a few doors down from our main studio location in Suite 9 we now have the paint palace for our Messy Masterpieces Pre-K Program. This new Studio spaces is designed specifically for your pre-K children ages 3 to 5. With designated areas for art, reading, play and sensory exploration. We are excited to have your little ones in our new space.
We will have all the same fun activities paint, craft, making slime, science experiments, play games and so much more. Everyday is brand new and all about fun. Yes, they will learn, but more importantly.... they will have FUN!
We do all the things that make a HUGE mess, so you don't have to!

We are so excited about our camp themes for this year and have the most amazing activities planned.
Parents with 5 year olds can choose if they would like their child to attend the main camp with 5-7 age group friends or the pre-k camp with 3-5 age group. You know your child best. The Pre-K Program will register their child HERE! If you would like to have your child at the main location you will use the other Summer Camp register action link for children ages 5-14. This option is only available for 5 year olds. Our camps sell out. We will not be able to make camp attendance changes the week of camp.
All Children attending must be fully potty trained to attend camp. Campers will not be assisted in the restrooms. In the event of an accident the parent will be called for pickup.

Hatha Yoga with Margaret Osborn
Hatha yoga focuses on posture and breathing techniques. Margaret specializes in healing the mind and body with breathwork, movement, and meditation. She has 8 years of experience teaching yoga and the last 4 years have been working with veterans and military families. Margaret is also certified in a range of wellness practices including; -200 RYT yoga certification from the Austin School of Yoga, Mini Yogis children’s yoga certification, and Trauma informed Yoga Therapy Level 2 from Sundhara Yoga.

STEAM Sprouts Mini Camps
Join us as we kick off the summer with two STEAM Sprouts Mini Science Camps. Each Mini Camp will feature hands‐on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) based programming for 4‐ and 5‐year‐olds. The camps will highlight collaborative experiments and inventive projects designed to get young minds excited about science. We are so excited to be partnering with @centennialparkmidland again this summer to offer some free classes for the community! Our first class will be June 4 at 9 AM.
This is a great way to see some of what we do while enjoying some (hopefully) cooler morning summer temps. You can also beat the heat in the splash pad following our class.
These classes are ideal for kids birth to four years old, however, older siblings seem to have a good time as well

The same amazing art camp that you are used to at The Studio.
New this year, just a few doors down from our main studio location in Suite 9 we now have the paint palace for our Messy Masterpieces Pre-K Program. This new Studio spaces is designed specifically for your pre-K children ages 3 to 5. With designated areas for art, reading, play and sensory exploration. We are excited to have your little ones in our new space.
We will have all the same fun activities paint, craft, making slime, science experiments, play games and so much more. Everyday is brand new and all about fun. Yes, they will learn, but more importantly.... they will have FUN!
We do all the things that make a HUGE mess, so you don't have to!
WEEKLY THEME: Each Weekly Art Camp has a theme, and all activities revolve around that particular theme.
Camps run MONDAY - FRIDAY this year!
You have the option of a 4-day or 5-day camp week.

Parents with 5 year olds can choose if they would like their child to attend the main camp with 5-7 age group friends or the pre-k camp with 3-5 age group. You know your child best. The Pre-K Program will register their child HERE! If you would like to have your child at the main location you will use the other Summer Camp register action link for children ages 5-14. This option is only available for 5 year olds. Our camps sell out. We will not be able to make camp attendance changes the week of camp.
All Children attending must be fully potty trained to attend camp. Campers will not be assisted in the restrooms. In the event of an accident the parent will be called for pickup.
Children may pack a lunch or eat with us for $5 per day. (This can be purchased at the door when you check in).

West Texas FC and the City of Midland, Texas - City Government Present: West Texas FC Summer Camps 2024! These camps will all take place at the Auxiliary Fields in Midland, Texas and the cost? FREE. That’s right…no cost to any camp participant. Thank you to our amazing partners, 7 Brew Coffee, Raising Cane's, Market Street and United Supermarkets we will have some great extras for these camps!

George H.W. Bush’s 100th Birthday Celebration
George H.W. Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts on June 12, 1924. He was the 2nd child of Prescott Bush. Bush became U.S. President in 1989. Celebrate this milestone birthday at the Bush Family Home State Historic Site on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5 pm to 8 pm. There will be music, a crazy sock contest, cookout and more. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for kids 12 and under.
Music will be provided by local band Five Years Apart. When Tripp Houck and Zach Lucas first met in the Summer 2023 they quickly realized they had a special musical connection. Their first jam session resulted in several hours of playing music together. Five Years Apart (5YA) formed shortly after with both Tripp and Zach playing guitar and drums, and Todd Houck playing bass. Five Years Apart has built a solid following playing throughout Midland/Odessa mixing rock classics with 90’s alternative rock and post-2000 pop-punk.
After leaving the White House, George H.W. Bush began to wear fun socks, choosing bold patterns and bright colors to liven up his suits. When he started using a wheelchair in his later years, the former president’s ankles were in clearer view at public events. The Bush Family Home will give homage to Bush by having a crazy sock contest. Don’t worry if you don’t have your own crazy socks. There will be a crazy sock table where you can make your own. Prizes will be given to the winners of the contest.
George H.W. Bush moved to West Texas in 1948 and lived in Midland from 1950-1959. The West Ohio Street house was the 2nd of three houses the Bush Family lived in the city. The home will be open for self-guided tours.
The Bush Family Home joined the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 38 sites in the state of Texas. Its normal operating hours are Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; the last tour begins at 4:15 p.m.

KNO gives your children ages 4 to 14 a chance to get out of the house, and off their devices to have some fun with other kids. Each KNO will feature painting, games, crafts, and a slime bar. Permian Basin FCA Marks Family All-Star Classic
FCA All-Star week is a 4-day event of All-Star games for graduating seniors from around the Permian Basin. The All-Star games include football, volleyball, 2 golf rounds, cheerleaders and athletic trainers. The All-Star week is filled with practices, fellowship, worship, and competition.

Sci-Fridays "Demolition Man"
Join us on the final Friday of the month, May-October, for a Sci-Friday movie on the Dome Theater in the Planetarium. Doors open at 6:30pm and the movie begins at 7:00pm. Refreshments are provided!

Upon playing to packed house across Texas, Treaty Oak Revival is making a triumphant return home. Treaty Oak Revival is bringing their power packed show to horseshoe Amphitheater Friday, June 28th at 8pm. Openers to be announced soon.

New this year, just a few doors down from our main studio location in Suite 9 we now have the paint palace for our Messy Masterpieces Pre-K Program. This new Studio spaces is designed specifically for your pre-K children ages 3 to 5. With designated areas for art, reading, play and sensory exploration. We are excited to have your little ones in our new space.
We will have all the same fun activities paint, craft, making slime, science experiments, play games and so much more. Everyday is brand new and all about fun. Yes, they will learn, but more importantly.... they will have FUN!

Parents with 5 year olds can choose if they would like their child to attend the main camp with 5-7 age group friends or the pre-k camp with 3-5 age group. You know your child best. West Texas FC and the City of Midland, Texas - City Government Present: West Texas FC Summer Camps 2024! These camps will all take place at the Auxiliary Fields in Midland, Texas and the cost? FREE. We are so excited about our camp themes for this year and have the most amazing activities planned.
Parents with 5 year olds can choose if they would like their child to attend the main camp with 5-7 age group friends or the pre-k camp with 3-5 age group. You know your child best. The Pre-K Program will register their child HERE! If you would like to have your child at the main location you will use the other Summer Camp register action link for children ages 5-14. This option is only available for 5 year olds. Our camps sell out. We will not be able to make camp attendance changes the week of camp.
All Children attending must be fully potty trained to attend camp. Campers will not be assisted in the restrooms. In the event of an accident the parent will be called for pickup.
Children may pack a lunch or eat with us for $5 per day. (This can be purchased at the door when you check in).

The same amazing art camp that you are used to at The Studio.
New this year, just a few doors down from our main studio location in Suite 9 we now have the paint palace for our Messy Masterpieces Pre-K Program. This new Studio spaces is designed specifically for your pre-K children ages 3 to 5. With designated areas for art, reading, play and sensory exploration. We are excited to have your little ones in our new space.

Garibaldi Showcase
Come out to the Midland County Horseshoe Arena - Pavilion - Amphitheater May 14th for the "Garibaldi Showcase" featuring performances by 8-10 different Mariachi groups with special guests Mariachi Atzlan.This is a FREE event open to the public.
ART CLASS Ages 8+
These art class sessions are to emphasize creative thinking and artistic experimentation. Each month we will work on new art projects and techniques. Your child will receive instruction in drawing, painting, mixed media techniques, sculpture, printmaking and more.
Classes are held weekly. There will be no class on Holidays. The fee for these art Sessions is a monthly rate. You will need to register for each month you would like your child to attend. The monthly fee includes all class dates listed at the time of registration for the month.
Crafting Class - Ages 5-7
These craft classes sessions are to emphasize creative thinking and artistic experimentation. Each month we will work on new craft projects and techniques. We used a wide variety of supplies to create our beautiful projects! These even include items you have in your own household!
Classes are held weekly on Tuesday evenings. There will be no class on Holidays. The fee for these art Sessions is a monthly rate. You will need to register for each month you would like your child to attend. The monthly fee includes all class dates listed at the time of registration for the month.
Hatha Yoga with Margaret Osborn
Hatha yoga focuses on posture and breathing techniques. Margaret specializes in healing the mind and body with breathwork, movement, and meditation. She has 8 years of experience teaching yoga and the last 4 years have been working with veterans and military families. Margaret is also certified in a range of wellness practices including; -200 RYT yoga certification from the Austin School of Yoga, Mini Yogis children’s yoga certification, and Trauma informed Yoga Therapy Level 2 from Sundhara Yoga.

Tales and Trails - Sibley Nature Center
On the 2nd Tuesday of the month, we have an interactive story-time program for 2–4-year-olds, their siblings, and caregivers. Children listen to stories, play games, create crafts, and walk on the trails.
