The Bush Family Home State Historic Site is joining other sites around the world to participate in the Worldwide Day of Play scheduled for September 27, 2025. The Worldwide Day of Play is a day set up by Nickelodeon and the Association of Children’s Museums as a day dedicated to experiencing joyful learning through play.
At the Bush Family Home from 10 am to 3 pm, visitors can have fun playing 1950s games, just like the Bush Family played while they lived at the home at 1412 W. Ohio Street. The games will include croquet, marbles, jacks, jump rope, slinky, hula hoop and more. New this year is that visitors will be able to make their own clay marbles. While the games are free to enjoy, tours can be taken of the home for regular admission.
“This was a very successful event with parents teaching their children games they used to play,” said Site Manager Troy Gray. “This year visitors will be able to take a piece home with them after they make their own marbles.”
The Bush Family Home State Historic Site is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 4:15 p.m. The site became part of the Texas Historical Commission in 2023 and is one of 42 historic sites in the state of Texas. Learn more at www.visitbushfamilyhome.com.
